Lovely handpainted Russian black lacquer box. Approximately 1" tall 3 3/4" deep and 4 3/4" long. The painting of two masked sailing ships sailing on calm waters with a mountain range and a wonderful sunset in the distance. The box is artist signed and dated. The artist signature appears to be C. Fenocknno and is dated 2000. I was informed me that Fedoskino is one of the four main villages for russian lacquer boxes. So it is possible that it was made there.
